Dr. Dan Schwarz, PsyD received his doctorate degree in 2003. He has been working in the field of Psychology since 1995. Initially providing psychological services and support in Pennsylvania. Then he moved to Chicago, IL to obtain his doctorate degree. During this time, he provided individual therapy in Evanston, IL. Since returning to the Maryland area, he has worked in community mental health in Washington DC and provided Emergency Mental Health evaluations at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. While at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, he was also Assistant Director of Admissions at Adventist Behavioral Health. In 2007, Dr. Dan Schwarz began providing Individual Psychotherapy and Couples therapy in the Rockville area. In 2010, he opened Rockville Counseling Center, LLC to provide psychological services in his own private practice.
Dr. Schwarz believes that each person who participates in therapy is a unique individual with his or her own goals for therapy. Based upon his experience conducting assessments, he enjoys meeting new people for the initial session and listening to his or her particular situation. The first session, and future sessions, are interactive. The goal is to assess the client's situation and then obtain the potential goals of therapy. Dr. Dan Schwarz specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy but also draws upon other aspects of therapy depending on the client's desired outcome. He firmly believes each person should be an active participant in the therapeutic process. Dr. Schwarz has helped clients with a wide variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, anger management, panic attacks, substance abuse and physical health issues. Although he does not provide to therapy to couples any longer, in the past, he helped couples learn and practice a wide variety of techniques to help improve their communication skills and facilitate growth, closeness and intimacy within their relationship.
